Any of you in or around Toronto next week, take note: on June 26th 7-10pm, Toronto design retailer Mjölk will be hosting the first North American exhibition of the work of Japanese woodworker Tomii Takashi. Initially drawn to woodworking following a stint in the Oregon woods, Takashi returned to Japan and began creating kitchen implements from wood foraged from the woods near his home. 18 years later, he has honed his craft to a clearly impressive extent. Simple geometry and an appreciation for the maker’s hand set the workmanship apart. For more info, visit Mjölk‘s blog, Kitka.
